Ask The Chef
1. Can I substitute oils in the dressing and marinade recipes?
Yes — mix it up! Try using olive or vegetable oils, add some hot sesame oil — or cut out oil completely, without sacrificing flavor. Check out my recipes for low-fat or fat free variations, and feel free to add your imagination.
2. Do I need to use rice vinegar in the dressing recipe?
While we recommend rice vinegar, you can substitute regular white vinegar in its place. Jaden Chinese Salad Dressing is fresh and flavorful either way.
3. Is the dressing all natural?
Absolutely. It’s the perfect blend of all-natural spices and seasonings for busy cooks who want fresh flavors, healthy choices and variety in their meals.
4. Does your dressing taste like what I’ve enjoyed on the Chinese salads at my favorite restaurant?
Yes — Jaden brings the fresh Chinese salad flavors you crave from premium restaurants into your very own kitchen. (And it costs far less!) Here’s a tip: Save time by using grocery store shortcuts like pre-chopped cabbage, prepared lettuce, sliced vegetables, cooked chicken and slivered almonds.
5. Must I use the dressing on a Chinese-style salad or can I make a regular salad?
While it makes a fresh, restaurant-quality Chinese-style salad, you’ll find our dressing adds delicious flavors to any salad you create. We’ve even turned it into a Mediterranean-style dressing by added lemon-pressed olive oil. So many uses from one little packet!
6. Can I use the dressing as a marinade?
Mmmmmm… try it as a marinade on your favorite meat, fish, poultry or vegetables — even tofu. You’ll find our marinade recipe is a good start. Feel free to take it any direction you like.
7. How else can I use Jaden Chinese Salad Dressing and Seasoning Mix?
This little packet does it all. Besides making a delicious variety of salad dressings and marinade, it can be used as a seasoning for stir fried foods, rice or potatoes — or added to fresh dairy products to make delicious dips. But don’t stop there. Use it as a dipping and seasoning sauce for shrimp or sushi, or drizzle it over steamed veggies. Each use is uniquely delicious, and so easy to make.
8. How long will the dressing last in the refrigerator, once it’s mixed?
If your family’s appetite is anything like mine, the dressing will be gone before you know it! Otherwise, store the mixture in your fridge for up to two weeks.
9. How many servings does each packet make?
It all depends on how generous you are with your servings. The nutritional information on the packet is based on 2 Tbl. of prepared dressing per serving. On average, each packet makes approximately 8 servings.
10. I’ve noticed the ingredients in my Jaden Chinese Salad Dressing and Seasoning Mix packet feel like they’re compacted. Is this normal?
This is normal, due to the all-natural ingredients we use. It doesn’t affect the quality of the product. Simply give the packet a little massage before opening. The packet will like it, and you might enjoy it, too.
11. Where can I find your dressing?
Please check the store locator for a store near you. If a retailer is not available in your area, you can order directly from us, and we will ship the dressing directly to you.
